What are Implant Supported Dentures?

Implant-supported dentures utilize a set of implants to securely hold the denture in place within your mouth. Numerous individuals who wear dentures often experience issues such as slippage, discomfort, and an unnatural appearance. To address these concerns, we can place multiple implants and create an overdenture that easily snaps onto them. This overdenture offers a fantastic solution to restore your smile and eliminate the need for creams, gels, and adhesive strips that you may have relied on for years.

Why do you need Implant Supported Dentures?

Having an ill-fitting denture is a common issue that can be caused by factors such as weight gain, weight loss, and aging. If you find yourself relying on strips and adhesive gels to keep your denture in place, it's time to consider a more effective solution. Implant-supported dentures are a great alternative because the implants are permanent, eliminating the need for frequent replacements.

Who qualifies for Implant Supported Dentures?

In order to assess your eligibility for implant-supported dentures, we will carefully evaluate your oral condition and examine your current dentures. This assessment will help us determine whether implants would be beneficial for you. If you have experienced bone loss, it may affect the healing process of the implants. In such cases, we highly recommend undergoing bone grafting before proceeding with any implant placement.

What happens during implant-supported denture placement?

During your consultation appointment, we will discuss the sedation or anesthetic options available for your comfort. Once you are comfortable, we will proceed by making incisions through the gums and carefully placing the long, thin implant deep into the jawbone. It is important to allow time for the implants to heal, which typically takes three to six months depending on your individual healing ability. Following the healing period, we will create an overdenture for you using impressions. This denture is removable, but it will securely snap in place over the new implants.
